CONTENT 09
On Sunday, I opted to go out and check out Content 09 at the Ace Hotel rather than stick to my usual Sunday routine of staying in and manically completing unfinished homework. This year was the first Content event, a showcase of 38 independent Portland designers. The rooms were packed, but each of the designers did an incredible job decorating and creating interesting displays. I did my best to photograph as many rooms as I could, but most of the photos didn't turn out so well because of the low lighting and my unsteady hands. Here are some photos that did turn out well. My personal favorite was Adam Arnold's room, made to look like a crime scene with fake blood and bound hands aplenty.

Still working on churning out these photos from NYFW. I know, I know, I'm a terrible blogger. Here are my photos from the Bodkin S/S 10 collection. The harsh lighting made it a bit of a nightmare to properly photograph, but hopefully I did the clothes some amount of justice with these photos although I encourage you to check out the Bodkin website for a better look.







I was head over heels in love with these navy and white dresses. The semi-sheer, asymmetric layers with bits of skin peeking through where fabric didn't overlap was done so perfectly. I must've taken at least 20 pictures of each dress.

For the past week or so I've been immersed in schoolwork and battling a gross head cold, hence the slowdown, or rather standstill in posts. Most of what I've been wearing these days is comfort driven so while I'm sporting penny loafers and pleated pants, I figured I'd share some more interesting things with you. I still have a boatload of photos from NYFW so over the next couple days I'll be slowly posting any remaining show photos. Apologies if this is just a regurgitation of things you've already seen, I can't believe it's already been a full month since NYFW.

This batch of photos is from Matthew Ames, where I slipped in late but was still able to see the last half of the collection. I'm still not entirely sure if I like this collection, although I definitely loved several individual pieces. I felt it was a departure from Ames' previous work and yet still very much consistent with his established aesthetic. There was that same ease to the pieces but this time they were more wearable (this term is wildly subjective but you get my drift) and modern than before- which of course can be viewed as both a positive and a negative. Although my favorites were of course in black and white, I did enjoy the use of bright colors and color blocking in this collection.

After seeing the Haider Ackermann Spring 2010 collection and revisiting his previous collections this morning, I felt inspired to revisit this column silhouette I love so much. I originally tried to replicate these outfits with one of my mother's sweaters belted at the hip, but it ended up looking less cool and voluminous and more like I was concealing a goiter on my hip. Oh well.

The vest is an incredible piece that was a gift from Canadian designer, Audrey Cantwell. I actually happened to come across her Etsy store, Black Market Baby, even before she sent me an e-mail and was completely in love with everything she made. I feel terrible because she sent it quite a while back but I never got around to wearing it until now (who knows why because after today I never want to take it off), however I feel like it will be a staple in my fall wardrobe.
